Who said you have to look your age?
When it comes to how old you are, your age is just a number. In 2014, scientists from the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis published research findings stating that there are many more factors that should be considered when determining your biological age. You can find out your biological age during a basic consultation with a dietitian or psychodietician, explains Agnieszka Owczarek, psychodietician at Noble Health. There are many super simple things you can do to maintain healthy and radiant skin, regardless of your age.
1. Use the right skin care products
When purchasing skincare products, there are three basic rules for choosing ingredients that you should pay attention to to maintain youthful skin. First, check the label for sources of antioxidants, such as vitamins C, E, and grape stem cells (the Class A Collagen line contains all of these), which will help brighten the skin. Second, verify the source of the collagen; only fish collagen has the ability to regenerate and rebuild skin structure weakened over time. Third, the product's base, and this isn't about the use of an oil or water base, but rather the consistency and oxygen content of the product. Products with oxygenating complexes have the additional ability to regenerate and provide oxygen therapy to the skin's outer layer. This process results in exfoliation of old skin and oxygenation of the new outer layer.
2. Filters and vitamin D3
Whether it's the dry, hot air outside or the cool, humid air in an air-conditioned room, it has a huge impact on the condition of our skin. Furthermore, sun exposure significantly impacts skin quality and wrinkle formation. Sun exposure, or after-sun care, is a fundamental part of skincare for all skin types, especially between April and September. This period accounts for exactly half of the year, so it's worth adding this element to your daily skincare routine. "Use at least SPF 15, but don't waste money on anything higher than SPF 40, as there's no evidence that higher SPFs provide greater protective benefits," says Agnieszka Owczarek. It's worth including vitamin D or astaxanthin in your diet throughout the year, even during summer in our latitude.
3. Choosing a cream for your skin tone
Not every cream should be used on all skin types. Avoid anything containing tanning agents if you have fair or very fair skin. This treatment can cause permanent pigmentation and discoloration, even microscopic ones that aren't initially visible to the naked eye. Women with dark or tanned skin should avoid mother-of-pearl, as it has brightening properties that may cause allergic reactions or irritation.
4. Natural GLOW
Bright, bold eyeshadow and cosmetics with glitter particles will lessen the appearance of wrinkles and give the skin a light, natural look. Lotions with small particles will slim the body and enhance a summer tan. Perfect for the beach and bikini season! An intensely moisturizing serum is the perfect base for creams with glitter particles. However, remember to thoroughly remove your makeup in the evening, as the particles tend to accumulate in the skin's pores.
5. Don't forget about the neck
As you age, your neck loses elasticity and reveals your age more quickly than anywhere else on your body.Neck care should be just as thorough as facial skin care. To keep your neck and décolletage looking young and healthy, follow this three-step ritual: moisturize your skin every morning and evening, exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle scrub, and start applying a night cream to your neck and décolletage as well.
