Gluten-free bread from a thermomix

These days, more and more people struggle with gluten intolerance. This allergenic food ingredient is a plant protein found in the seeds of wheat, barley, and rye.

Gluten combined with water gives dough elasticity, making it desirable in baking. Furthermore, it has no significant nutritional value and is downright toxic to those with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. The only treatment for gluten allergy symptoms is complete elimination. People with celiac disease must avoid gluten for life, while gluten intolerance may be temporary.

Symptoms of gluten allergy - what are the most common?

  • watery runny nose
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • skin hives
  • skin lesions such as atopic dermatitis
  • anaphylactic shock

In this situation, the only solution is to eliminate gluten. Only a gluten-free diet will eliminate these unpleasant symptoms and restore joy in life. It's worth examining your body and determining whether gluten is wreaking havoc.

What products contain gluten?

Gluten is found in wheat, rye, and barley grains. It also acts as a leavening agent in sausages, pâtés, ground meat, sweets, cold cuts, dairy products, and beer.

What to eat on a gluten-free diet?

A gluten-free diet is quite a challenge for newcomers. Switching overnight isn't easy, but once you notice how quickly the unpleasant symptoms disappear, the change will no longer be daunting. Gluten-free products are available in most well-stocked stores. For your convenience, they are marked on the label with a crossed-out ear of corn. People with gluten allergies should make reading labels a habit, as this allergen can be found in seemingly safe products. Gluten can even be found in beverages, sweets, and even meat. Therefore, it's important to read ingredients and eliminate gluten from your daily diet. Ready-made gluten-free baking mixes are available on the market, and you can successfully prepare delicious dishes that are safe for people with gluten sensitivity.
