Get to know your skin typology

Choosing your daily skincare routine and your skin type are a relationship that shouldn't be separated, as this can lead to a cosmetic issue. Combination, oily, dry, and normal skin have different needs. How can you avoid getting lost in the maze of skin problems? Check out our skin typology overview and discover what's perfect for you.

Basic skin types are divided into oily, combination, dry, and normal. Acne, vascular, sensitive, and atopic skin are less common. Nothing is set in stone, so even if you're struggling with acne now, it might become oily or normal in a few months. The simplest test to determine your skin type is to wash your face in the evening with a gentle, soap-free cleanser. Don't apply cream and go to bed. In the morning, touch your face with a tissue and press firmly. and examine it under the light. If it covers your entire face, you have oily skin; if it covers your T-zone, you have combination skin. A dry wipe means you have normal or dry skin.

Normal skin:

The ideal that millions of women worldwide dream of. Skin looks healthy, firm, well-circulated, and smooth. It's free from breakouts, enlarged pores, and shine. Sebum production is at an appropriate level, and the skin has a natural sheen. It's resistant to weather conditions.

This is what you need: Contrary to appearances Caring for normal skin is also a challenge. Treating your skin with regular soap or alcohol-based products can easily dry it out. Gentle creams or cleansing milks are best for removing makeup. For toning, use products containing rose petal extract. For daily care, use a light moisturizer.

Oily skin

Dry skin, lacking sebum, produces it in excess. It has a yellowish to gray hue. It's thick, poorly vascularized, often shiny, and has visible enlarged pores or blackheads. It tolerates harsh weather conditions, wind, snow, and sun well. Those with oily skin have a lot to work with, but the upside is that such skin is thicker and ages slower than, for example, dry or normal skin.

This is what you need: The key is thorough cleansing, which will prevent blackheads from developing. Use gentle cleansers, such as those based on chamomile or sage, which inhibit the spread of bacteria. Perform an enzymatic exfoliation twice a week. During the day, you can salvage a shiny face with blotting papers or a regular tissue, which will remove excess oil. Avoid heavy, concealing foundations. Instead, reach for lighter BB creams or delicate loose powders.

Combination skin:

This skin type combines the characteristics of normal skin around the cheeks and oily skin in the T-zone. Blackheads most often form on the forehead, nose, and chin. It also has an oily sheen.

This is what you need: The biggest mistake is treating combination skin as oily. This can lead to dryness in areas where the glands don't produce excess sebum. This type of skin requires special care. Products for combination skin won't irritate dry areas while cleansing and normalizing oily areas. Get an algae mask, such as one made with powdered spirulina, which will nourish, improve circulation, and purify the skin.

Dry skin:

It doesn't produce enough sebum on its own, so it leaves a tight feeling immediately after washing. It's smooth and firm, but lacks shine. It's prone to staining and discoloration. It reacts to weather conditions, including soap and water, with redness.

This is what you need: This type of skin ages the fastest. The first wrinkles often appear even around the age of 20. Moisturizing in every form will help. It's worth choosing moisturizing and soothing masks that strengthen the epidermal lipid barrier. You can remove your makeup with a cleansing milk, or use a flaxseed infusion instead of water. At night, be sure to apply nourishing and regenerating creams, such as those with vitamin C, collagen, and retinol.

Regardless of the type

"Monitor your skin's condition as the seasons change. This is when the greatest changes usually occur. Replace your creams every 3-6 months, as your skin gets used to the active ingredients and needs a change," advises Agnieszka Owczarek, an expert at Noble Health.  Regardless of skin type, two key factors are essential: proper hydration and sun protection. Skincare isn't just about applying creams and masks. It should be complemented by appropriate supplementation, which will moisturize and protect the skin from the inside. I recommend regularly taking Class A Collagen skin tablets. This product contains marine fish collagen and hyaluronic acid, which greatly strengthen and improve skin elasticity regardless of age or skin type.
